Quick WITCHER S1 #spoiler-free-review:

  • great season, but what a tease
  • I like Henry Cavill in this role more than as Superman
  • although he plays the titular Witcher, the season's plot largely involves Ciri and Yennefer's origins as well - I wish I had watched this before playing the Witcher games, it's the great backstory recap I never had
  • looking forward to S2!

It has always been my dream to be cited in one of those articles where they just collect a bunch of tweets. Thanks grab!

I wonder if there are other developers who have written their own software for their own use with horrible ui and horrible code that never gets cleaned up because “I'm the only one who'll ever use it”

I retweeted this thread back in 2017. It's still ongoing! He's managed to beat his dad twice since the thread started! Quoted onlxn's tweet:

Rematching my dad in Scrabble. Have never beaten him. He was once top 30 in the American dictionary, but he is old now, and I NEED this

Healthy organizations make it safe to report problems, but unhealthy ones make it a gamble to tell a superior something isn’t right. Same for personal relations too. Quoted ahugheswriter's tweet:

I once read that you can spot an abusive system because when you point out a problem, you ARE the problem.

That opened up my eyes dramatically. https://twitter.com/eveyjacob/status/1209234390829502464

This is insightful because it’s also a sign of an abusive society. Case in point: in the Philippines when you dare to criticize the govt, their supporters will paint you as a bad guy for being disruptive and say “why cant you just be helpful” Quoted ahugheswriter's tweet:

I feel like it says something about this country that whenever I pass by a garage sale or such its almost always just used clothes and never used books

Probably one with a (former) friend - someone I knew growing up - over his support of a certain presidential candidate in 2016. It took me forever to realize we were coming from two completely different value systems. (PS, he was the one who unfriended) Quoted buster's tweet:

👋 I'm giving away 10 copies of WHY ARE WE YELLING? https://www.amazon.com/Why-Are-We-Yelling/dp/0525540105/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=why+are+we+yelling&qid=1555959964&s=gateway&sr=8-1&fbclid=IwAR3pWkn6PCHikGax_mhAfzt_8y_BannKCLOnHeTdTnlBS7oXcLoulQ7efws&linkCode=sl1&tag=buster08-20&linkId=e2a83202060b15b8f48ddc42075041b7&language=en_US If you'd like one, retweet this with a comment about the most unproductive disagreement you can think of, whether it's out in the world, or your personal life. I'll randomly pick 10 winners tonight.

Did people who grew up in the 70s watch that 70s show? I'm not sure I'd watch “That 90s show” Quoted ThatEricAlper's tweet:

That 70’s Show debuted in 1998, and was set in 1976. If a show came out today in 2019 with the same premise, it would be set in 1997.

I found out that I had bought the wrong printer ink cartridge when I went to the mall last week because I misremembered what my actual printer model was =/

It's always great when I'm coding something and I find out that past me already implemented a function for it and I'm like “good job past me!” :self-five:

Copied all of my follows to a private Twitter list, then replaced my “Home” column in Tweetdeck with that list, let's see how that works out. Main advantage of this: I can follow people for contest/giveaway purposes without necessarily having them in my main timeline.
